Employers

Are you a business in Brighton and Hove? Did you know 1 in 9 of your workforce is a Carer?   We are asking local businesses to pledge to support their employees who are Carers by joining our free membership of Employers for Carers (EFC).

This will give you access to online resources, such as: training, legislation explained, contract templates and best practice case studies, alongside great supportive digital apps to share with your staff; helping them in their caring roles and keeping them in their jobs.

Alongside the membership resources, we can provide posters and leaflets; signposting staff to local support including Carers Hub.  We can also provide Carers Awareness Training for key staff or run an information stand at your offices to help engage staff and encourage them to seek support.

Contact Carers Hub for more information on how to set up your free membership.

GPs

An estimated 9 in 10 people with a caring role will access primary care services either for themselves or someone they support. Many of these people will not identify with the term ‘carer’ and so will not be receiving the support they are entitled to.

Staff working in primary care services are well placed to help those looking after someone to recognise their caring role. By having the right conversations and identifying carers opportunistically, carers can begin to access the support they deserve.

The Carers Hub works directly with primary care services across Brighton and Hove to support Carer Friendly practices. We offer Carer Awareness Training for Professionals which can be completed via our online course or by booking an in-person session with our Primary Care Link Worker.

Professionals can refer carers to us directly via our website. The Carers Hub can provide you  with Information Packs and posters for display in your practice. Our Primary Care Link Worker can run dedicated Carer Information Booths for your patients and support you in implementing NICE guidelines.

For more information, please contact our Primary Care Link Worker at colette.stapleton@thecarerscentre.org
